Children's Manuscript Assessment

Children's Manuscript Report

Our children's editors will look at material for submission in all age groups up to and including Young Adult. They will provide a re-usable 9-15 page in-depth report on your Illustrated and Early Reading Manuscript. An annotated copy of your manuscript - with points and examples from the report detailed within your writing - after all it is no good receiving back a report which tells you what you need to do but not how you need to do it!

The report will cover the following areaa:

Assessment of the illustrations and suitability for that specific age group
Content suitability for the reading abilities of that level - including characterisation
Overall presentation of the book
Believability of the content in relation to the genre and age group
The grammar structure and suitability of language used
The presentation of hidden meaning and concepts
Where relavant the editor will suggest further reading and illustration resources

Books for Young Adults will be assessed on the same concepts as above and will take into account current trends in the market.

Children's Manuscript Fees

Because of the nature of children's manuscripts the number of words are usually quite small, so we have a standard minimum fee for up to 1000 words.

Reports usually take 3-4 weeks, however we do offer a premium service which takes 4 working days for an additional 50% of the initial quote, please contact us for more details.

What We Do Not Offer

We do not submit your manuscript to literary agents or publishers. Other companies may offer this type of service, however you should be particularly wary of paying for it. If you do submit an exceptional manuscript with a unique angle we may use our contacts at literary agents or publishers to put your work in front of the right people, however this is such a rare occurrence that has only happened a handful of times in our long history.
