How to Submit Your Manuscript to a UK Publisher - Appraisal

It may be a surprise to know, but, some UK publishers do accept unsolicited manuscripts. The group of publishers I am referring to here, are, the independent publishers in the UK. The considerations of an independent publisher are a little different to a larger publishing house and to an agent. This is apparent from the moment they pick up your submission.

This service is an actual appraisal of your work and differs from the 'How to' packs which give general guidance from independent publishers about the sorts of things they are looking for in their submissions.

In this appraisal we will look at:

  • Material included in your package and whether suitable for submission to an independent publisher
  • Your cover letter - ensuring it is geared towards an independent publisher
  • Your publishing history & CV - ensuring this contains all relevant information which will make you an attractive author to an independent publisher
  • Marketing information and target reader - essential for an independent that needs a good marketing angle for anything it takes on
  • Three sample chapters - format, length and suitability
  • Additional relevant information

We recommend choosing this service if you have already used the 'How to' pack and have further, more specific queries on your work.
