Productivity - Don't Just Achieve Busy-ness!
Although feeling as though you are achieving something is important, the next step is to be careful and monitor what it is you are achieving. It is one of the easiest things for us to feel a sense of achievement, and any of you working in a busy office will know this better than most, but we can feel achievement from being 'busy' and still not get where we want to be with our writing. I could sit here all day answering emails, filing paper, and generally filling my 9 - 5 day - I will feel a sense of achievement by the end of the day but when I look at the big chunk of writing I didn't achieve, I suddenly realise it isn't getting done, yet I am always so busy! Make sure your 'busy-ness' is achieving what you should be achieving and isn’t just a flurry of activity. Don't be lulled into a false sense of satisfaction with completing tasks that aren't essential to progressing your project.
